By Steven Sullivan

Everyone loves and celebrates the arrival of a baby and especially their parents. There are however instances when an individual finds themselves involuntary acting in the opposite direction. This is what happens to Postpartum Doula San Deigo patients. It involves a situation where there is an extreme mood disorder. Both genders can be affected, but it mostly affects the mother. This may be triggered by factors from within or from outside. These individuals tend to display a number of negative signs and symptoms.

One symptom that is easily pinpointed is continued sadness and anxiety. Though occasionally it is normal for a person to get sad, this comes as a continued state in the individuals. It takes away all the happiness as others are affected by this person staying in this condition for an unusually long time. Conflicts and guilt develop in the partners and other family members.

Restlessness is another thing present in them. They are always looking restless and feel unsatisfied. They fail to appreciate anything that is given to them or done to them. Value for the child is also diminished as they do not find it essential. This results in suspicions and especially when the course of such reactions is not established as postpartum depression.

Another symptom noticed is complaining of exhaustion. Mostly this is as a result of overworking the brain with small and primarily negative thought. Whenever the brain is tired, the body receives the effect, and this is why they complain of the body being exhausted. As a result of this condition negligence and failure to carry out functions is noted.

Another symptom noted is lack of self care and uncleanliness. As the condition develops, they stop giving attention to sanitation and no longer groom themselves. Washing their bodies no longer given attention and in the process, there are chances of other dirt related diseases attacking them such as typhoid. The baby is also affected as they might not be cleaned and this leads to the baby contracting infections.

Decision making is greatly compromised. The individual can not come up with any meaningful decision. An overworked brain is unable to bring up constructive ideas. Again, the thoughts that they have are mostly negative and are characterized by fear and harming thoughts. Security of the child is put at risk plus their own as some end up even committing suicide.

It is also common to notice social withdraw. A normal person appreciates the society and works towards ensuring there is constant contact with other people and especially due to the presence of a child. But the opposite happens when there is postpartum depression, other people are seen as enemies and refuse any form of contact with other individuals making it hard for them to offer any help.

In conclusion, there is reduced libido. The sex life of the partners is not supposed to be effected after childbirth. This happens on the negative side if postpartum depression is present. It becomes worse especially when the condition affects one person in a marriage. Conflicts may arise out of that where they do not understand the course of the lowering of their libido. Hence it is essential to evaluate the symptoms and seek medical help.
