Top Eight Problems With Public Education

By Judy Sullivan

Even with today's world, a perfect system is yet to be founded. Despite the many years of civilization and improvement in the human society, the system is still imperfect and it can still give varied difficulties. Even schools cannot defy this fact. Here are some of the top problems with public education people should face.

The first problem is that there is no standard policies in this school. Since there are no standard policies, the teachers will be troubled about where or how they can teach. Of course, this will also become evident in the lack of accountability, proficiency, infrastructure, and assessment. The government should really do something about this for the sake of the students.

Another one is that there is only a one-way teaching process. There is no other way for teachers to teach their students than to follow the old manual passed down from previous teachers. In order to keep the interest of the students in learning, the teachers are commanded to think of innovative teaching methods. These methods, like dancing or plays, are supposed to help liven each class.

Poor academic performance. This is the most common threat to these schools. This is all due to the fact that the schools are still practicing the outdated agenda of examination. In this case, the students will get their knowledge limited. As a result of getting their knowledge limited, they will show poor academic performance.

People also know that this school is oftentimes labeled with troubles like peer pressure and violence. There are students who find it easy to threaten their classmates. If there is a hierarchy such as senior and junior, the threatening will become even more obvious. They can use abusive language towards them or abuse them physically.

There is a lack of extracurricular activities. This is usually the reason why those ambitious and capable students transfer to private schools. Simply because there is no extracurricular, these students will feel that they are being buried. Their talents will have nowhere to go. They will lose motivation and thus lose self-esteem and confidence in return.

Those with learning disabilities are unable to incorporate themselves in the said school as well. They will have to be separated from the other children if they do not want to fall behind significantly. After all, they are the ones who will require more practice, more revisions in their learning, and other similar activities. The ones with learning disabilities that should be separated are those suffering from dyslexia, ADHD, or physical disabilities.

The authority does little to help the system, making it a rigid one. Most of the ones who take the higher up position does not have an ounce of concern for others aside from those they find useful in their own designs. It is only normal considering that they already have a lot of things to do. They cannot concern themselves with each and every people involved in their school.

The students take up bad habits or addiction. This is normal considering that the adults around them take up drugs, alcohol, and smoking. They will just imitate whatever they see the adults do. If they are not given the right attention, they will also fall into the same depravity. This will then cause additional problems with public education.
